What is Mill Creek STEAM Camps?
Mill Creek STEAM Camps (MCSC) aims to serve the community of Mill Creek by developing 3rd – 6th grade students into thoughtful engineers. Over a week, students explore STEAM-based concepts through hands-on project-based lessons. These concepts include physical concepts, 3D-modeling, programming, and construction techniques. We strive to help students enjoy learning science and problem-solving.
What kind of things do you do?
We strive to have engaging student-centered lessons. Here are a few of our activities:
- Use TinkerCAD create and 3D-print fidget spinners, quadrupeds, or soma cubes
- Use CodeCombat to introduce the Python programming language as a video game
- Make ice cream using rock salt, half & half, and 3 plastic bags
- Design and launch water bottle rockets and use them to analyze the path of projectiles
- Make a potato battery and use it to power a telegraph
- Build a walk-in camera and view its inner workings
Each activity lasts between 15 and 90 minutes. This is a camp, not a math class, so there aren’t any tests or notetaking. Your child will have fun at Mill Creek STEAM Camps.
Many of our activities require computers. Students are encouraged to bring iPads, laptops, or Chromebooks from home. We can provide Chromebooks to students who cannot bring devices, but those must be shared. Bringing your own device ensures you don’t have to share devices.
What age are the kids? When is it?

What sets Mill Creek STEAM Camps apart than other camps?
One of MCSC’s the largest appeals is that it’s community-focused. We’ve partnered with the city of Mill Creek and are run by teachers within the Everett School District.
Additionally, our curriculum introduces relevant real-world concepts. Students learn real programming languages instead of drag-and-drop programming. They 3D-print objects using an industrial 3D printer. The instructors are both teachers with Everett School District and have created over 30 relevant STEAM-based activities.
Where is it?
Mill Creek STEAM Camps is located in portable 2 near the playground at Forest View Elementary School. We’ll meet in the front of the school at 8:00 am. We will also email registered participants a week prior to their session beginning for more info.
How much does it cost?
Mill Creek STEAM Camps costs $280 or $350 for full-day sessions and $200 for half-day sessions. We strive to serve the community of Mill Creek, so we offer needs-based scholarships that reduce the price to $50 for half-day sessions and 75$ for full-day sessions. Applicants must apply by June 8th here.
